Couple Announces IVF Pregnancy After Three Miscarriages And More Than 100 Hormonal Injections

An Illinois couple who have struggled to become pregnant announced that they are expecting a baby through an Instagram photo that symbolized everything they've been through for the past four years. With the help of IVF treatment, Tyler and Macy Rodeffer are now expecting their first child.

In an Instagram post, Macy uploaded a photo of a sonogram surrounded by a heart of syringes, medicines and tubes that she had to deal with in a single month of IVF treatment. The 18-week pregnant woman is expecting a baby boy.

"We're some of the lucky ones," Macy said on her blog. "It only took 4 years, 3 miscarriages, depression, 107 hormone injections, one surgery, two procedures, over 100 suppositories, and several thousand dollars to get our baby."

The expecting mom shared how happy and blessed she feels for being given the chance to have a child. She claimed that her sacrifices during the four years is nothing compared to the struggles that women who fail to conceive undergo.

According to Daily Mail, the couple began trying to have a baby in 2012. They, however, had to face major setbacks in their plan like endometriosis and male factor infertility.

Macy said they lost a lot of possible babies along the way and this took a toll on them for a time. The couple had to deal with feeling hopeless and depressed while still trying to conceive. "Our baby doesn't erase years of loss, depression, hopelessness, pain, tears, and crying out to God," Macy noted.

The soon-to-be mom told ABC News that she wanted to raise awareness about infertility with her online posts. She, however, said that she did not expect all the positive feedback and expression of support from the public.

Despite conceiving a baby on her own, Macy said she also plans to adopt since her mother and cousin are adopted children. She claimed that the process of adopting a kid may also be as challenging and painful as undergoing fertility treatment.
