From Using Minecraft For Coding To Teaching Leadership Skills, These Fun Summer Camp Activities Will Make Your Children Smarter

Children and teenagers benefit from summer camps' supervised programs that hone young people's skills to help them become smarter and learn new things. One summer camp activity has been reinvented to suit the youth's dependence on the internet and video games.

'Minecraft' Teaching Kids How To Code

A virtual summer camp is using the game "Minecraft" to teach young people how to code, the Suburban Times reported. "Minecraft" is a sandbox video game that allows its 22 million players to place blocks and go on adventures.

With the game serving as an educational tool, young people will learn how to be more creative and combine technology with knowledge. During the Summer of Minecraft Camps program, children will study the basics of play, coding and architecture, game design and in-game engineering.

Connected Camps is using "Minecraft" to cultivate and foster a child's interest in the game and direct that interest into STEM education, which involves science, technology, engineering and mathematics. They will also collaborate with their peers on digital citizenship and community organizing.

The Summer of Minecraft Camps will run from June 27 until August 5 with five sessions that last for a week. A one-week camp costs between $49 and $79. Children will be able to pick their niche such as architecture, game design, survival camp, beginning coding, intermediate coding, advanced coding, engineering in "Minecraft" and camps for girls, the Suburban Times listed.

Other Summer Camp Activities For Young People

The Victory Leadership Summer Camp, or VLSC, at Greensboro, North Carolina develops campers' leadership skills. Laden with fun competitions, the summer camp costs $105 per week and will include breakfast and lunch. The camp starts on June 20 and ends on Aug. 19, and lasts from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Monday to Friday), according to a report from WFMY News 2.

Interested VLSC campers are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of $25 upon applying. The deadline for the application falls on June 5. You can register on the official site for VLSC.

Meanwhile, Engineering for Kids, or EFK, is teaching children about chemistry, aviation, aerospace, machinery and construction, the Daily Sabah reported. The summer camp program will be open to kids aged five to 12 from June 20 to Aug. 26.

EFK summer camp will teach children lessons in ceramics, creative drama, integrated arts and a special program named STEAM, which is a form of STEM. EFK do not just teach important educational skills; it also promotes physical and social learning among kids.
