Transgender Kids: A One-Of-A-Kind Summer Camp Welcomes Them

Being transgender can be hard. It makes it quite difficult to blend in and to belong in a particular group. This summer camp however, makes it a point to welcome all kinds of campers. Transgender kids may have found their summer home in this one-of-a-kind summer camp.

'Transgender Kids Camp'

This welcoming summer camp has been the subject of a new documentary called "Transgender Kids Camp." The camp sets itself from other summer camps as it welcomes with open arms all transgender kids. They don't need to hide and to find ways and means not to participate because of some degree of discrimination.

The said documentary features the struggles of a couple who has a transgender daughter, Ryan. The couple, Sabrina and Chris, had a hard time in attending to Ryan. However, things changed when Sabrina and Chris brought Ryan to this summer camp. Here, they witnessed how Ryan became happier and more comfortable with her surroundings. They saw the positive change that transpired within Ryan.

'So Impactful'

According to People, Sabrina described the summer camp as "so impactful." Their daughter was able to experience that she wasn't alone. Chris also mentioned that the camp was a loving environment for Ryan.

Yahoo said that since the camp is dedicated solely to transgender campers, it becomes a safe community for parents of transgender children to communicate and share their experiences. They get to meet others, and in a way, build a bond and instill the feeling that they are not alone.

Eradicating Fears

One transgender camper, 12-year-old Maxy, said that when it was still her first time to go to camp, she was thinking of being quiet and play on her phone hiding beneath a hoodie. Her fears were quickly eradicated when she got to join the Transgender Kids Camp. After her first summer camp experience, she regularly went back to it every year.

This Transgender Kids Camp became the haven of every transgender kid for the duration of summer. Due to the fun and laughter shared by these kids in the camp, they will keep going back to it year after year.
