Autism and Schizophrenia Are Linked According to the Brian Tissue Study of Experts

The findings regarding this research is headed by Dan Arkin. It was published just recently in May 24, 2016 by the Translational Psychiatry.

According to a report by Spectrum News, a new research has been found out that patters o schizophrenic brain and brain with autism has almost the same gene expression. Both schizophrenic and autistic brain are said to have the same features like, having language problems and social difficulty or understanding other people's way of thinking. Both also seems to have genetic risk factors and are overlapping in gene expression.

On another analysis by the Stanley Medical research Institute, with 26 controls, they went ahead and studied 21 people with schizophrenia and 25 bipolar disorder. What they found out is that 106 genes are stated at lower levels with autism and schizophrenia.  To the scientists, it is exciting because of the discovery of overlaps.

But what effects will this haven the family members of individuals that have been affected by schizophrenia, or autism? In a previous post of the same website, there's an explanation about Autism and schizophrenia being two different disorders.

Comments however on that previous post either gave parents perspective or confusion. Some are not even happy and some do not care anymore as they would simply greet disorder and special needs family members with love, acceptance and support instead of blaming who's who on the science world.

As for Dr. Arkin, he believes the relatively, still little is known with regard to these tow genes that affect autism and schizophrenia. And each gene may not be involved with each other's cases or condition. To these scientists though, they are still interested to follow up on their research and find out more about how autism and schizophrenia link with each other.
