Amber Heard Domestic Violence Issue: How Cases Similar To Johnny Depp, Ex Wife Led Australian Territory To Tax For Assaults In Homes

Issues involving Amber Heard in domestic violence are making headlines, not just over ex-husband Johnny Depp but also over a relationship in 2009. However, domestic violence such as the one associated with Amber Heard is far from unique so much so that the Australian Capital Territory took the step to be the first country to tax for assault and disturbance in the home.

New York Daily News reports that Amber Heard was implicated in a domestic violence much as she is being involved in one with Johnny Depp now. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp sought to divorce following complaint by the actress of domestic abuse in her marriage.

Although controversy surrounds the domestic abuse claims by Amber Heard against Johnny Depp, such goings on in the home are more common that they should be. 9News reports that the Australian Capital Territory are taking the issue seriously and turning it into a national concern.

The annual $30 per household domestic violence tax comes under the Safer Families program of the Australian Capital Territory. "Family violence does not discriminate; it is a national issue that touches the lives of Australians everywhere," Chief Minister Andrew Barr said.

According to Andrew Barr, the Safer Families domestic violence tax is their way of taking a stand to begin easing domestic violence out of families and homes. 9News reports that Safer Families will redefine domestic violence so that emotional, economic and psychological abuse are also covered.

In the US, many have been, are and continue to be in the same position as Amber Heard either as abuser or as victim in cases of domestic violence. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, domestic violence occurs on men and women every minute.

An average of 10 million men and women experience physical abuse in the hands of their partners each year. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence further says that one in every three women and one in every four men are dealt some form of physical violence by a partner within their lifetime.
