'The Walking Dead' Zombie Children Photoshoot Sparks Outrage As Mom Photographer Defends Concept

A mom who works as professional photographer is defending herself against outraged netizens. She shared images of her recent photoshoot involving children on her Facebook page. They were photographed as characters from "The Walking Dead." However, many didn't like the concept.

Alana Hubbard, who runs Mother Hubbard Photography, was inspired to do "The Walking Dead" photoshoot with 24 children, including her own kids, age 3 and 7. Some of the children were made up to look like the characters from the TV show, complete with fake guns, swords and crossbows. The other kids were made up as gory zombies and cannibals.

The photographer then tried to recapture the most poignant scenes of "The Walking Dead" with her little models. In one photo, a child is shown aiming a gun at another child's head, which was what happened on television. There were also images of dead children and children with bloodied clothes and faces.  She made sure to place a disclaimer in her posts.

Facebook users stormed the photographer's page to air their disgust of her ideas. They criticized the children's clothes and makeup, the props used, as well as the dangerous location. Offended and disturbed by Alana Hubbard's concept, some users went as far as reporting her Facebook page to the site's admin. According to New York Daily News, the social site took action and deleted some of the photos, as well as suspend the account for 72 hours citing terms violations. It has since been reinstated.

Alana Hubbard is crying foul about the overreaction and hypocrisy on social media. "I didn't create those poses," she said per CBS New York. She reasons that the photos are just inspirations that have already been done and seen on a popular TV show.  Besides, when people search for "The Walking Dead" on the internet, there are actual merchandises aimed at kids and photos of the young actors pointing guns. The props were also bought at a kids' toy's store. "Why are those okay and mine aren't?" she asked, per People.

Alana Hubbard is a fan of "The Walking Dead" and pointed out that the other kids' parents liked the re-enactment. They told the kids that they were only doing make-believe stuff and never had any intention to put the children at risk.

The most important thing was that the kids had fun during the photo shoot, which was also supervised by other parents. "They didn't want to go home so we went to the park and we had 'Carol's cookies," said one mom, via ABC
