'The Last Of Us 2' Release Date, News & Update: Naughty Dog's 'Uncharted 4' Easter Egg Points To Unexpected Neil Druckmann Surprise?

The "Uncharted 4" easter egg by developer Naughty Dog, which rekindled "The Last Of Us 2" buzz may be pointing to other than a pregnant Ellie. Alternate news suggests that the "Uncharted 4" easter egg may mean that "The Last Of Us 2" is a prequel with Anna rather than a sequel with Ellie, however, the tease may be even more unexpected.

Citing Gaming Bolt, Naughty Dog artist Richard Lyons captioned the speculated "The Last Of Us 2" poster with semi-cryptic writing. "The poster was created as an in game asset for 'Uncharted 4,'" Richard Lyons wrote on ArtStation. "Such a treat to work on. Also, I can't elaborate on the narrative to this image."

While the secrecy on the significance of the "Uncharted 4" easter egg is understandable, Gaming Bolt pointed out that what was previously thought of as "The Last Of Us 2" may actually be a prequel featuring Anna. If so the "Uncharted 4" easter egg may cluing fans in on a prequel for "The Last Of Us" with Anna while she was pregnant with Ellie.

"The Last Of Us: American Daughters" may reportedly then follow Anna along with Marlene, whom Ellie's mother befriended in days past. Some fans question, though, the practicality of having a pregnant protagonist in "The Last Of Us 2" where gameplay is concerned.

Although the idea of a pregnant Ellie or a pregnant Anna taking the lead in "The Last Of Us 2" sounds ideally inclusive, fans wonder how gameplay can be realistic without being limiting. Still the "Uncharted 4" easter egg may not even be about "The Last Of Us 2."

More than a few fans were quick to point to the Dark Horse Comics logo at the bottom of the "The Last Of Us: American Daughters" poster. Which may actually point to the possibility that "TLOU American Daughters" is an upcoming collaboration by Neil Druckmann for a Dark Horse Comics release rather than "The Last Of Us 2."

Despite the Dark Horse Comics release tease for "TLOU American Daughters," this does not mean "The Last Of Us 2" is not happening. A Dark Horse Comics arc for "TLOU American Daughters" may in fact, cement the fact that "The Last Of Us 2" is coming, even if the theme is not necessarily about a pregnant lead.

In the past, Dark Horse Comics released "The Last Of Us: American Dreams," which ties up with "The Last Of Us: Left Behind." In the meantime, popular projection remains for a 2018 release of "The Last Of Us 2" by Naughty Dog and Sony.
