A 10-year-old boy from Lafayette repairs bikes for his fellow kids in the area and he plans to do this as a way to spend his summer.

Wish TV reported that the boy, identified as Peter Greer, wants to spend his summer giving back to his community especially to kids like him. Greer is said to have started collecting used and damaged bikes, repairs them, and gives it as a gift to other kids in his area.

Greer works at the back room of Union Street Auto Sales. He has been going to the auto shop with his mother as she is working there. The boy shared in a statement, "We've got big bikes, small bikes, girl bikes, boy bikes, mountain bikes and little girl bikes."

Some people have started to donate bikes to Greer so he could work on them. His main mission is to help children who cannot afford to buy their own bikes. He now has 60 bikes to repair before he would give them away.

It is a big project for Greer and is sometimes time-consuming because not all bikes have the same problems to work on. Some bikes need to have new tires while others have to undergo a paint job. Greer shared that sometimes it takes him a week or three days to work on one bike. As for painting, he pointed out, "You want to have more than one layer of paint, that's why I'm painting it where it's already been painted."

One of the recipients of the bike of Greer was identified as Dalton Hughes. Hughes said that he and several kids walked by Union Street Auto Sales and saw Greer working. They then asked Greer how much one bike would cost and the 10-year-old answered by explaining what he was trying to do. Greer let them pick a bike of their own. Hughes said that he feels lucky because he never had anyone give him a bike for free.

Greer said that the kids got their bike and came back so they now ride together. The boy noted that they are now friends due to the bond they have shared over the bike.
