Anton Yelchin May Have Been Killed Because Flaw In Design Of His Grand Cherookee

With a heavy heart, Anton Yelchin was mourned by his close family and friends. His fans also mourned for his life which ended too soon at the age of 27.

It was a freak accident. He was crushed between his car and the security gate very close to the house where he lives. His jeep was a grand Cherokee, and his death is still being investigated. The allegation being, that his death may have resulted because of the defects found in the manufacturing of the Cherokee jeep.

His car was believed to have been manufactured in between June 2012 - December 2016. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTSHA) report, they have claimed that, "The affected vehicles ... may not adequately warn the driver when driver's door is opened and the vehicle is not in PARK, allowing them to exit the vehicle while the vehicle is still in gear.'

There have already been thousands of the Jeep Grand Cherokees being recalled in the US and also internationally because the jeep fails  to warn the drivers while their vehicle is in neutral and when parked. This usually happens when they are out of their cars.

According to Metro, the electronic gear stick seems to have created confusion to the drivers. It's because the gear switches back to the same position after being shifted. This makes the drivers rely on the light for warning and not warning sound is heard. Dangerous to use indeed.

Yelchin was reported to be going out to work that day for a rehearsal, but when he didn't show up, his friends went over to check on him and found him dead.  According to The Daily Mail, as his friends checked on the car that pinned him to the gate, the car was in neutral with the engine running.

Yelchin was famous for his acting stint in 'Star Trek' and the 'Green Room.' He is a charming and talented young man.
