'Krypton': Superman Prequel Series Reveals Character Breakdowns

Syfy's Superman prequel series "Krypton" is set two generations before the planet's destruction and has revealed its characters as well. The series will focus on the family trees of two prominent Kryptonians: The House of El, which is composed of several generations of Superman relatives, as well as ancestors of Zod, and other comic favorites.

The series revolves on Superman's grandfather, whose House of El was banished, where he would do anything to reclaim his family's honor and save his world from chaos. TV Line released the breakdown of Krypton's lead characters.

The House of El:

Seg-El -Superman's grandfather is seen in his 20's at the time of Krypton, is the new series' lead character. The young Seg is portrayed to be athletic and quietly confident. Comic fans will see him as a bit grumpier but equally moral compared to his appearance in the classic Starman comics (Starman #51), where he saved Starman from Kryptonians who wanted to cut him up in order to examine his internal parts.

Val-El - Seg's grandfather and Superman's great, great grandfather, is a genius. He pioneered in space travel who defied death after entering the Phantom Zone. He seems to have a bigger role and  is known to be a staunch believer in space exploration. He will pass this knowledge to his great-grandson, later known as Kal-El or Superman.

Ter-El - Seg's father and Superman's great grandfather. That's all we know for now.

Another prominent Kryptonian family in the series:

Lyta Zod - She'll portray the twentysomething beauty and a presumptive ancestor to Superman's future arch-enemy, General Zod, and is described as a reluctant warrior. She's the female lead of the Krypton series and is likely to be the love interest for Seg-El. The twist is very interesting considering the relationship of their descendants.

Alura Zod - Lyta's mom, happens to share the same first name as Kara Zor-El or Supergirl's mother, Alura In-Ze. This might not be just a coincidence. Alura might also have familial ties to Zod if Lyta does.

Other key characters include:

Dev-Em - Also in his 20s and described as the chiseled Kryptonian bad boy. In the comic books, Dev-Em survived the fate of Krypton, ended up on earth, became Superboy's enemy, became a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th century, and supported Superman from the '60s.

The Cast for these characters of Krypton has yet to be revealed. Krypton has been in development since at least late 2014 of which was expected to pilot in May, as per Comic Book Resources.
