'Game of Thrones' Director Says Season 6 Finale Promises Lots of Deaths, Show Did Deliver

Before Sunday's HBO finale of "Game of Thrones" Season 6, the director of the hit series assured that there will be many deaths and the showrunner did not disappoint with his promise.

The director for the final episode of "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Miguel Sapochnik, said in an interview before the last episode for this season was released that people will die in the extra-long event. He simply said "People die" in his The Hollywood Reporter interview but did not elaborate on whose faith will be ending on "The Winds of Winter."

Sapochnik is not the first to express that there will be many deaths in the Season 6 finale of the show as "Game of Thrones" actress Gemma Whelan, who plays the role of Yara Greyjoy, said in a statement before that the last episode is thrilling, epic, and overwhelming. Hollywood Life also reported that actor Dean-Charles Chapman, who plays Tommen Baratheon, said the episode is "worth waiting for."

A number of long-running characters have been killed on "Game of Thrones" Season 6 episode 10 and it includes Margaery Tyrell, he brother Loras, and her father Mace. The Tyrell family became a political force in season 2 but Margaery becoming the queen and her paranoia spelled trouble for her. Her brother Loras was imprisoned for his homosexuality and Margaery was arrested too eventually. Although the other Tyrells have been killed, Lady Olenna is expected to come back as she is plotting with the Sand Snakes of Dorne and Varys for revenge.

Other people killed in Cersei's wildfire bomb are the High Sparrow, Lancel Lanister, and many other Sparrows. Grande Maester Pycelle was also killed after he was stabbed to death by Qyburn's child spies before the wildfire explosion. In the original story, Varys will kill Pycelle but it was obviously not followed by the "Game of Thrones" HBO series creators.

King Tommen Baratheon was also one of the major casualties in the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 finale. Cersei's final remaining child was killed not in her mass murder but due to her mass murder. He was unable to live with what his mother had done so he jumped out of a window. He is the third king on the Iron Throne to die after his father Robert Baratheon was killed in season 1 and his brother Joffrey in season 4.

Lastly, another major death is that of Walder Frey and two of his sons. Arya Stark wanted revenge from the Frey family and was successful in doing so. The season six finale of "Game of Thrones" did have a lot of major deaths but "The Battle of the Bastards" episode sill had more onscreen deaths.
