'Dance Moms' Latest News & Update: Abby Lee Miller Pleads Guilty of Banruptcy; Could Get 2.5 Years in Prison

"Dance Moms" reality star Abby Lee Miller has pleaded guilty to the bankruptcy fraud case she has been involved in since 2015 and she could be getting two and a half years in prison.

In a report by E! News, Miller pleaded guilty to the charge of concealing bankruptcy assets and to one count of not reporting an international monetary transaction. As per the court documents, she will be sentenced by October 11 this year.

Miller initially could have faced up to five years in prison on the bankruptcy fraud charges from her 2015 indictment and could have paid a $5 million fine but her attorneys have reportedly worked on coming up with a plea deal. Miller's lawyers are also asking now that the sentence be reduced to six months instead of the two and a half years proposed punishment.

The attorneys of Miller said in a statement, "Sentencing in this case will occur after the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit resolves United States v. Free, a similar case addressing the issue of sentencing in a 'zero loss' bankruptcy." The attorneys added that Miller has taken the proceeding seriously and appreciates the support from her fans all over the world.

The "Dance Moms" coach said in a statement last month that the events in the past months have been challenging not only for her but for her family and her friends as well as her students.

For the international transaction, the "Dance Moms" star reportedly had her employees sneak more than $120,000 into the United State from Australia via their luggage using Ziploc bags. A text from Miller also reads, "We have all this foreign cash" and "Need a little money laundering."

For the concealing of bankruptcy assets, she reportedly concealed $755,000 in earnings from the "Dance Moms" show produced by the Collins Avenue Entertainment. She also had other payments paid under her mother's name instead of hers.

"Dance Moms" is still ongoing on the Lifetime network and the second part of season 6 will be coming this fall. Miller is still starring on it. She also still has classes all over the world until August such as in Utah, the Hamptons, and New York City.
