'High School Musical 4' Cast, News & Update: Zac Efron Refuses Return to Focus on 'Fifty Shades Freed?"

"High School Musical 4" Zac Efron rumors are getting more interesting by the day. Not long ago, it was suggested that Efron along with former flame Vanessa Hudgens could reprise their roles in the fourth installment.

Now, new reports are claiming that fans should give up any hopes for a possible "High School Musical 4" Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens reunion. There have been rumors floating around that Efron will not be available to do a brief Troy Bolton cameo since he will be starring in "Fifty Shades Freed."

According to GamenGuide, the hunky actor will be replacing Jamie Dornan in the erotic novel to movie adaption. As the publication suggested, execs of the movie have been having problems with Dornan since he has been very busy taking care of his wife Amelia Warner. Ultimately, producers of the third and final installment allegedly decided to let Dornan go to replace him with the supposed "High School Musical 4" star.

Nothing has been confirmed as of writing, so fans should take Efron's involvement with the "Fifty Shades" franchise with a grain of salt. Not all hope is lost for a possible "High School Musical 4" Zac Efron cameo.

While their big Wildcats return remains to be in question, other "High School Musical 4" cast updates have already revealed the new characters for the upcoming flick. One of whom is Peyton, a well-travelled athletic student.

"Luckily I've got sports to keep me going," Peyton's speaking line in the alleged script read. "My family moves a lot for my dad's job. Not great for making friends. But sports? They're always there for me."

Apart from Peyton, "High School Musical 4" will reportedly feature characters named Erin, Derek and Campbell who are allegedly good soccer players; Nathalie, Erin's best friend and an outgoing cheerleader; and Tamara, East High's former queen bee, an E! Online report noted.
