'The Winds of Winter' Release Date & Major Spoilers: Cersei POV Chapter Underway? Worldcon Big Reveal Hinted

Fans are really itching to know more about "The Winds of Winter" release date. No specifics have been released as of this writing but speculations about the highly anticipated novel thrive online.

What Happens to Cersei in 'TWoW'

New rumors are claiming that "The Winds of Winter" might feature a new POV chapter for Cersei. In a Reddit forum, a fan shared an observation that Cersei was the first POV character who sits on the Iron Throne.

This spurred speculations that Dany could be the next POV character to rule Westeros, while another fan noted that more details about Cersei's reign could be revealed in "TWow" as George R.R. Martin is gearing up a chapter on the Queen.

"At Balticon recently he even said that he was in the middle of working on a Cersei chapter for TWOW," user TheEld noted on "The Winds of Winter" forum. "It is logical to assume that this chapter also is set near the end of the book since he has said repeatedly that he is very close to finishing it. We also know that in TWOW we will actually see both Casterly Rock and Highgarden for the first time in the series. I'm betting Cersei goes to one or both of these locations as a result of having to flee King's Landing."

'The Winds of Winter' Reveals New Chapter

Meanwhile, other "The Winds of Winter" release date rumors are hinting that a new chapter could be revealed at the Kansas Worldcon in August. Martin has recently confirmed his attendance at the said event, further igniting rumors that he might be revealing more details about "TWow" then, Ecumenical News noted.

During his Balticon appearance, the author revealed a new chapter of his sixth novel but failed to reveal any details about the "The Winds of Winter" release date. "You're disappointed, and you're not alone," Martin said in a previous statement, as reported by Australia Network News.

"My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed ... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me," George R.R. Martin said.

Do you think "TWoW" will be released this year?
