While "The Vampire Diaries" fan theory posited either Elena Gilbert or Sybil could have been part of the evil that turned Damon Salvatore and Enzo St John evil and Bonnie Bennett, a hint by "TVD" writer Brian Young revealed otherwise.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is set to unveil the big bad in the vault, which caused Damon Salvatore and Enzo St John to wreak havoc in "TVD" S7 finale. As cited by Parent Herald, Damon Salvatore and Enzo St John had been hoping to free Bonnie Bennett from the final Everlasting and so entered the vault, which birthed the "The Vampire Diaries" shocker.

Damon Salvatore hearing Elena Gilbert inside the vault before he turned evil caused "TVD" fans to tie Nina Dobrev in with "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 villain. Similar to Elena Gilbert, newcomer Sybil was also thought to be "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 big bad given her ancient power and temperament.

However, Melty cites TVLine in reporting that "The Vampire Diaries" writer Brian Young absolved both Elena Gilbert and Sybil from hurting Damon Salvatore, Enzo St John, Bonnie Bennett and various others in Season 7. According to Brian Young, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 villain is a CGI creature, which "TVD" had never done before.

"We've done a lot of iterations of a lot of different kinds of villains, so we wanted to do something a little different and see how it plays out," Brian Young said of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 villain. In a separate article TVLine reports that Sybil is currently being cast for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 filming, which disqualifies her as "TVD" vault villain.
