'Pokemon Go' News & Updates: Niantic's Game Has Privacy Issue? 'Pokemon Go' Poses More Threat Than Fun?

"Pokemon Go" encourages you to catch all of the Pokemons. It surely is an exciting game. But, is there a price to pay?

What hurts most of the players the most is that Pokemon game has access to your location and many other information. This means that "Pokemon Go" makes people give up a lot of their personal information.

Niantic, the maker of "Pokemon Go," has the right to share the data of the people who download Pokemon to third parties. This includes other buyers and law enforcers. This is a common practice among companies that make mobile games. However, Pokemon users are plenty and this is a matter of concern.

A "Pokemon Go" player has the option to download the game using their Google accounts. This gives the company access to their personal information like Google drives, search history and emails. Niantic has however released a statement that they access only the usernames and email addresses and no other information has been collected or accessed.

To our relief Google has verified that Niantic or "Pokemon Go" has not accessed any other information of the players. There are reports that Google will downgrade the permissions for "Pokemon Go."

Of course, it is the most exciting and beloved mobile game. However, there are reports that "Pokemon Go" had led users to discover dead bodies or even turn victims to armed robberies. The technique that the kidnapper uses is to lure "Pokemon Go" players in the promise of finding Pokemon to secluded places and then robbing them on gun point. Surely, there is more than one case where people are injured. We hope that access to personal information does not pull the game down further.

Additionally, the companies said, "Google has verified that no other information has been received or accessed by "Pokemon Go" or Niantic."
