Legendary Pictures announced its acquisition of rights to make films featuring most famous Pokemon characters. And guess who will be the first to appear in a movie! It is rumored that the first live action Pokemon film will focus on Detective Pikachu.

Detective Pikachu video game is still not released in the United States. Generally, Detective Pikachu is considered more obscure when compared to the other games in the franchise. It came out as a surprise and raised many eye brows when Detective Pikachu was selected as the first live action Pokemon film.

What to expect from the first movie?

The production of the first Pokemon movie is to begin in 2017. This will chiefly focus on Detective Pikachu. Legendary pictures announced that the film will be different from the hand held games or even the famous anime, reported Gamerant.

Legendary Pictures has not yet revealed many aspects of the film. It still remains in the dark. There are reports that the film will be released by Toho Pictures in Japan. Universal Studios will have all the international distribution rights. It is rumored that Netflix is also all set to get hold of rights for the film. However, it is not confirmed yet.

There will be very less details regarding the Pokemon movie "Detective Pikachu" will the studio actually starts producing it next year. We will have to wait for plot lines to unravel. Also, the cast needs to be announced by the studio. Filming locations also are still not decided.
