'The Catch' Season 2 Spoilers, News & Update: Mireille Enos Spills S2 Focus, Shorter Episodes; Ex-'Grey's Anatomy' Actor T.R. Knight Joins

"The Catch" was added to ABC's roster of shows during the mid-season and received a surprise renewal despite its shaky start. Mirielle Enos, the star of the show who plays Alice Vaughan, the owner of a successful private investigation firm in L.A., revealed that the upcoming season is going to focus on learning the characters' background. T.R. Knight also joins the series in a multi-episode arc.

'The Catch' Season 2: Mireille Enos Teases Backstories, Shorter Episodes

Mireille Enos spoke on eTalk during her visit to Canada recently and stated that they have yet to begin with work on "The Catch" Season 2. However, she is aware that next season will be filled with backstories about the characters - Alice, Ben (Peter Krause), Valerie (Rose Rollins), Danny (Jay Hayden), Sophie (Elvy Yost) and Margot (Sonya Walger).

Mireille Enos guessed that her character, with Alice's beautiful house and office, and fashionable clothes, might have been picking car locks before she became a sought-after private investigator with rich clients. She describes the appeal of the show as somewhat akin to "Romeo and Juliet" meets "James Bond."

The actress also unofficially confirmed that "The Catch" Season 2 could have shorter episodes as opposed to the standard 22-24 episodes on network television. Mireille Enos believes this is a better model for shows to be able to tell a straight-forward and tighter storyline. "The Catch" Season 1 had only 10 episodes.

'The Catch' Season 2: T.R. Knight Casting

Meanwhile, former "Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight is joining "The Catch" Season 2 and executive producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed his addition via TV Line. "This has been a thrilling secret to keep!" said Rhimes, who is also the executive producer on "Grey's Anatomy," "Scandal," "How To Get Away With Murder" and the cancelled series "Private Practice" on the same network.

Both Knight and Rhimes are happy to be working together again after so many years. "I am heartened to be returning to Shondaland and excited to work with this exceptional cast," T.R. Knight said in the TV Line statement.

It's still unknown what role the actor will play on "The Catch" Season 2, but perhaps he's going to be part of one of the character's family or backstory. Could the actor play Peter Krause's brother in the show?

"The Catch" Season 2 is scheduled for a mid-season return on ABC. First time to learn about the show? Watch the video below.
