'Jack Ryan' Amazon TV Series Latest News & Update: How John Krasinski Is Preparing For Tom Clancy Role Of A Lifetime [PHOTOS]

You might not have heard it yet, but there's a new Jack Ryan in Hollywood and he's coming to Amazon's streaming service. John Krasinski has been officially cast in the role of the CIA hero written by best-selling author Tom Clancy, in a reboot that will be developed by Calton Cuse for the small screen. Here's what you need to know about the upcoming show so far.

'Jack Ryan' Reboot On Amazon - How It All Started

Development of the "Jack Ryan" TV reboot was officially announced in 2015. "Lost" executive producer Carlton Cuse will be showrunner of the series, with Graham Roland as head writer. The show is also going to be produced by Michael Bay ("Transformers" franchise, "The Last Ship") with Paramount TV.

However, "Jack Ryan" will not be a "direct adaption" of the books written by Tom Clancy, but the TV show is going to be a fresh take on the CIA analyst's character, per Deadline. Cuse is said to be a long-time fan of the books and tapped the help of Roland to write for the TV show.

Casting the role of Jack Ryan was officially announced in April 2016, with John Krasinski picked for the iconic role, per Variety. Below is an unofficial fan-made poster of the upcoming series.

The "Jack Ryan" TV reboot is going straight to series on Amazon Studios, which veers off its usual approach. The streaming site usually delivers the pilot episode to their subscribers first, with the option to proceed with the full season almost one year later -- if the pilot clicks with subscribers. But "Jack Ryan" supposedly won't follow this system. It is still unclear how many episodes the show will have.
