‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival First Teaser & Release Date: Series Tackling Impact Of Richard’s Death, Rory’s Life Struggles & Ex-Boyfriends

Netflix has recently released an official release date and the first teaser for its upcoming "Gilmore Girls" revival. News about the four-part revival of the comedy-drama, which aired from 2000-07, was announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour this week.

'Gilmore Girls' Revival Official Release Date & Teaser

"Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" will air on Friday, Nov. 25 at 12:01 AM PT, TVLine reported. All episodes, which will run 90 minutes each, will be released all at once by Netflix like how the internet subscription service usually does.

Netflix also released the first teaser from the "Gilmore Girls" revival. The clip begins with shots of the fictional Connecticut small town Stars Hollow and then directs into the kitchen of the mother and daughter tandem of Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel).

In it, the duo was arguing about whether popular comedian Amy Schumer would like Lorelai. Watch the footage below.

What To Expect From 'Gilmore Girls' Revival

Principal photography for the "Gilmore Girls" revival wrapped up in May. Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said the BBC series "Sherlock" has a huge effect on the revival.

Sherman-Palladino told TVLine she admired the 90-minute format of "Sherlock" because it is more than "just an episode." Originally, the revival was pitched for just three episodes but later became four to accommodate the year's four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. Sherman-Palladino said the seasons "defined [Stars Hollow] a lot. And we thought that'd be a lovely way to catch up with all three of our Gilmore Girls over the course of a year."

"Gilmore Girls" will open with Rory living and working in London prior to her return to Stars Hollow. The revival will showcase Rory's struggles in her career and love life, E! News reported.

The revival will also deal with Lorelai's eccentric father Richard's death, which is in line with the cast's grief over losing Edward Herrmann in real-life. Sherman-Palladino said the upcoming episodes will highlight the impact of Richard's death in the lives of Lorelai and her mother Emily (Kelly Bishop).

As for Rory, it was reported that all of her exes will make an appearance on the "Gilmore Girls" revival. Jared Padalecki, who played Rory's first love, Dean, already confirmed that he only spent one day on the set of "Gilmore Girls" because of his busy "Supernatural" schedule. This strongly suggests that the two won't end up together in the revival, Vanity Fair reported.

Melissa McCarthy will also be reprising her role as chef Sookie St. James, Lorelai's best friend. Stacey Oristano and "Doctor Who" actress Alex Kingston will appear on "Gilmore Girls" as well.
