NBA Trade Rumors: Stephen Riley Disagrees With Derrick Rose's Statement That New Yok Knicks Is A 'Super Team

During the NBA trade off, each team in the league is given the chance to strengthen their grip on the championship by adding a new player who will bring them closer to the most coveted NBA title. According to Derrick Rose, the New York Knicks is a "super team" and is ready to face the Golden State Warriors but Stephen Riley disagrees.

New York Knick A Match To GSW In The Next NBA Season

There is no doubt that among the strongest team in the NBA leagues are the two teams who battle for the championship last season, the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. GSW has a dynamic quartet of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and the new addition, Kevin Durant.

On the other hand, Cavaliers is an all-powerful team thanks to LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. This time, New York Knicks doesn't want to be behind in the next NBA season with Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Joakim Noah and Kristaps Porzingis.

"With these teams right now, they're saying us and Golden State are the super teams, and they're trying not to build that many super teams, and [commissioner] Adam Silver came out with the statement and this and that," Rose said in an interview earlier per ESPN. The NBA All-Star added that expectations are high for the Knicks in the upcoming season.

Stephen Riley Disagree That Knicks Is A Super Team

However, Perry Green and Stephen D. Riley of the AFRO Sports Desk debate have something else to say. " If this was maybe three or four years ago, even without the young Porzingis, I'd gladly call this unit a super team," Riley said. According to Riley, Rose, Melo and Noah have passed their respective primes and they are not even close to their best performance a few seasons ago. In fact, Rose was named one of the worst point guards in the NBA league statistically.

"When Rose threw out the 'super team' comment, it was possible that he was simply referring to the star power, and not actual play and results," Green added. The Knicks was horrible last year but with their foursome, the might do better in the upcoming NBA season.
