‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Will Be An Emotional Run? Benedict Cumberbatch Teases ‘Evolved’ Season

Fans have been itching to know more about "Sherlock" season 4. Previous reports have already speculated that the protagonists' arch enemy, Moriarty, could return in the upcoming run, but apart from his rumored resurrection, fans should expect a lot more from the popular BBC series.

As some cast members of "Sherlock" season 4 hinted, the upcoming run could be an emotional season. Producer Sue Vertue told Comicbook that she cried when she read the script for the new season, while actress Amanda Abbington who plays Mary Watson, teased that viewers will most likely feel the same.

As for Benedict Cumberbatch, "Sherlock" season 4 promises to deliver the same humor and mind-blowing plots. However, he also hinted that the upcoming run will take things up a notch.

"It's difficult this one because obviously, you have to manage expectations like I was saying in the panel just now," he told Comicbook, as reported by Cinema Blend. "At the same time, I want to share the joys of what this has got coming for fans. It's so irritating because you can only talk in broad bracket terms. It's very dark. It's the same strain of trademark humor, the relationships are strong and deep and really complexified by what goes on. It's fast, it's funny. It's got a lot of action, a lot of twists and turns. It's everything that Sherlock has been but evolved to a really exciting level."

Previous rumors are rife that "Sherlock" season 4 could be the last for the well-liked show. Several reports have already hinted that the upcoming could be the last season, and even its showrunner, Stephen Moffat is unsure of its future state.

In a recent interview, Moffat addressed some pressing issues about "Sherlock" season 4, including its speculated end. "I don't know how long we can keep it going," he said as reported by Sydney Morning Herald. "I'm personally willing, but I'm hardly the main draw. I would be moderately surprised if this was the last time we ever made this show. But it absolutely could be."
