NBA Latest Rumors: Fans of Kelly Olynyk Will no Longer see him on Boston Celtics? Team Thinking About not Extending his Contract

New rumors are surrounding NBA player Kelly Olynyk saying that he will no longer be part of the Boston Celtics for the 2016-2017 NBA season despite being eligible for a contract extension. Accordingly, the NBA team is likely to make Olynyk a restricted free agent until next summer before deciding if they want him in the team on a long-term basis.

Olynyk has been a great player for the team especially when he needs to stretch the floor. He has quality play under his name and has shot 40.5 percent from three last 2015-2016 season. Also, he has shown good passing gifts and made Boston Celtics 5.2 points per 100 possessions as compared to their opponents when Olynyk was in curred in the past season. However, Olynyk has been injured many times such as the off-season shoulder injury this summer. The latest injury has kept Olynyk from competing with Canada as they tried to qualify for the Olympic basketball, NBC Sports reported.

For this summer, Olynyk is qualified for a contract extension off of his rookie deal but Boston Celtics is reportedly looing to wait for a year before signing him to the team. Olynyk is eligible to sign a long-term deal with Boston Celtics until the October 30 deadline but the decision will not be his call.

An insider shared, "This is a critical season for Olynyk, who is coming off shoulder surgery. He will be depended on to be the floor-stretching sharpshooter the Celtics have desired the past three years. Olynyk has missed 43 games over his first three seasons, primarily because of injuries. The Celtics want more toughness and consistency from their former first-round pick."

If and when Boston Celtics will be signing him next summer and not this upcoming season, this could mean that Olynyk will have a huge paycheck. However, there still are no confirmations about this report.

Boston Celtics might sign Al Horford this season if they will not be extending Olynyk's contract.

The people involved in this report are yet to comment.
