‘Chicago Fire’ Season 5 Cast & Spoiler: Scott Elrod Booked For A ‘Drop-Dead Gorgeous’ Role; 4-Way Crossovers Planned?

As "Chicago Fire" gets ready for the fifth season coming in October, it has added Scott Elrod among the cast members. Elrod will star alongside the show's top playboy, Severide. Meanwhile, NBC is planning a four-way "Chicago" series crossovers.

NBC's "Chicago Fire" has cast "Grey's Anatomy's" army doc Scott Elrod in a hot and wild role. As TVLine reported, the 41-year-old actor will be in multiple episodes in Season 5 as Travis Brenner, a "drop-dead gorgeous" social media star. Brenner and Severide will meet each other on a fire call. Spoilers tease that Severide will be tempted to join his new friend's fast-paced inner circle. Elrod was Meredith's love interest in "Grey's Anatomy." He is also known for his role as Joe Clark in CBS' daytime soap "The Young and the Restless."

In its official Facebook page, "Chicago Fire" teased about Scott Elrod's role in the series. With a photo of the actor, they wrote, "It's going to be a sizzling Season 5."

Meanwhile, NBC has confirmed its plans to do a four-way crossover among the "Chicago" franchise, saying that it is now just a matter of scheduling, The Wrap reported. NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said on Tuesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour said that they are working on something that would bring together "Chicago Med," "Chicago Fire," "Chicago PD," and "Chicago Justice."

As the publication noted, the three "Chicago" shows, created by Dick Wolf ("Law & Order") received solid ratings, with "Chicago Med" being the top scripted show when it premiered last November. "Chicago Justice" is the newest addition, which was ordered into series last May and will be produced by Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment. Its cast includes Philip Winchester, Carl Weathers, Nazneen Contractor, Joelle Carter and Ryan-James Hatanaka.

"Chicago Fire" Season 5 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 10/9c on NBC.
