‘Pokemon GO’ Latest Guide, Tips & Tricks: How To Get ‘Pokecoins' For Free

While millions of Android and iOS users in select countries may now download the "Pokemon Go" app for free, the game still features micro-transactions in the form of "Pokecoins". Here's a quick guide on how to get "Pokemon GO" coins without having to spend.

"Pokecoins" are the in-gam  currency used to purchase useful items in "Pokemon Go" such as "PokeBalls" and potions that definitely come in handy while progressing in the game. While players would want to have a financial advantage in the game, most are reluctant to shell out actual real-world money.

Luckily, there are ways for players to acquire "Pokecoins" besides buying them from the "Pokemon Go" app. A great method from GameRant makes use of the "Pokemon Gym". The technique involves taking down a gym and have your own "Pokemon" defend it.

Taking down a "Pokemon Gym" in "Pokemon Go" would mean battling and defeating a number of enemies, depending on the gym's prestige, the higher the prestige, the tougher it is to take down. A player can always take down a gym single-handedly, but the trick here is to keep the gym for the longest possible time after claiming it. That means teamwork in defending the gym is crucial.

Once the "Pokemon Gym" is successfully taken over. "Pokemon Go" trainers may now leave one of their "Pokemon" to protect the gym from attackers. For every "Pokemon" left in a gym, players will receive a "defender bonus" of 10 "Pokecoins" and 50 "Stardust" every 21 hours.

A useful tip from TechWorm allows "Pokemon Go" players to maximize the "Pokemon Gym" method. Players are allowed to leave one "Pokemon" to defend as many "Pokemon Gyms" they can take over, if they have 5 "Pokemon" protecting 5 gyms, that would give them 50 "Pokecoins" and 250 "Stardust". However, the "Shop" window from the gyms only allows players a maximum 10 times to "Cash In" the "defender bonus". If players leave 10 "Pokemon" guarding 10 individual "Pokemon Gyms", players would receive 100 "Pokecoins" and 500 "Stardust" every 21 hours.

"Pokecoins" are not so easy to come by and in the "Pokemon Go" universe and players would have to invest time and effort or money to get them. Therefore, it is advisable that players spend their "Pokecoins" wisely.
