‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 23 Rumors, Latest News Updates: Derek Hough Ditching ‘DWTS’ Dance Floor For ‘Hairspray Live!’?

As the season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 looms, rumors about the potential cast members, professional dancers and judges are getting more exciting and interesting. As a matter of fact, several names have already emerged but the official reveal won't happen until early September on "Good Morning America."

It has been previously confirmed by Hall of Fame magazine that two-time mirrorball champ Julianne Hough will be returning in "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 as one of the judges of the competition. Unfortunately, Julianne's brother, Derek Hough won't be seen on the "DWTS" dance floor this season as one of the professional dancers.

According to CarterMatt, Derek Hough is busy preparing for the upcoming NBC television program, "Hairspray Live!," which is set to premiere on Dec. 7 and based on the 2002 Broadway musical of the same title. Derek's "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 absence is not a first for the "DWTS" season 21 champ as he also skipped the show's 22nd season.

"I'm not one for closing chapters in that way, especially for something that's so important to me and that's been like family for so many tears," Derek Hough told E! News during NBC's summer TCA press tour. "So, for me in my mind, that door is always open, and we'll see!"

Meanwhile, Parent Herald previously reported about the rumored cast for "Dancing with the Stars" season 23. Among the names mentioned were "Bachelorette" star JoJo Fletcher, "Real Housewives of New Jersey" cast member Teresa Giudice, "Bachelor" New Zealand Jordan Mauger and ESPN's "The Coach" cohost and former WWE talent Jonathan Coachman.

As for "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 judges, Pitbull and Shakira were rumored to joining Julianne Hough and Len Goodman on the list for the competition's panel of judges. In addition, some online sites also hinted the potential participation of Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tanioli as "DWTS" judges.

Moreover, Latin Post hinted that Tom Bergeron and "DWTS" season 10 finalist Erin Andrews will be the hosts for "Dancing with the Stars" season 23. Meanwhile, ABC has yet to make an official announcement about the important details of the show but the network has revealed that the upcoming season will premiere on Sept. 12, Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
