Willem Dafoe As Ryuk On Netflix's Death Note 2017: The Ultimate Devil's Advocate

The TV screen adaptation of Death Note isn't shown until 2017 on Netflix, yet fans are already getting excited over what the anime series would bring. More than a few things to anticipate on the network, especially since Death Note has gained a huge fan base in the Americas.

Until recently, production is still underway in select locations to bring the best out of anime series. Here's what many are expecting to see in 2017's Death Note, according to an Inverse post. Take your pick below!

Light as the conscious bringer of Death. Unknown to his family at first, Light's shy, awkward persona of a young man takes refuge in coincidentally finding justice for victims by writing the bad persons' name on the Death Note. With the added comfort of having these scums of society die a silent death (less the author defines one on that person's behalf), the living are somehow divided on the notion of regarding Light as a hero or a serial killer, out to rid the world of everything evil.

Sources believe that Light's constant presence in Death Note is what kept the series' popularity going, and even if he dies in the end - fan reactions are hugely important to the acquiring network show-runners, of course.

Darkly interesting visual effects. Never is a series so dark and justifyingly twisted in a way than what Death Note offers. Sure, it's not an entirely unique concept of bringing justice into a series and being served in the most humanely way possible (ergo, death by heart attack), however, Death Note's appeal to young audiences makes it a timely opportunity, especially since inflicting death on someone without them knowing is still a crime, right?

Willem Dafoe as Shinigami Ryuk. So, when Light gets convinced to use the Death Note to create a utopia of only good people by the Shinigami Ryuk, adding famous actor Willem Dafoe into the mix is sure to get the Netflix TV adaptation high ratings, says The Flickering Myth. Who better to play the Shinigami than someone as highly credible as Dafoe, with that evil-sounding voice to match, right? Stay tuned for more details on Netflix's TV adaptation on Death Note, airing on 2017.
