‘Google Nexus 2016’ Smartphones Set to Launch; Updates, Features, and Release Date Revealed

"Google Nexus 2016," the latest in Google's "Nexus" smartphone line will soon be releasing two new products to compete against other leading smartphone brands. With Samsung releasing the "S7 Edge" earlier in March and the "Note 7" on August 19, and Apple rumored to be releasing the new "iPhone 7" in early September, "Google Nexus 2016" is looking to catch up with two new smartphones, the "Sailfish" and the "Marlin".

Google has been releasing its own smartphone line since they came out with the"Nexus One" in 2010, and after several years later, it has become a real player in smartphone game. With the highly anticipated release of the "Google Nexus 2016", here's what we know so far.

Google has partnered up with Taiwanese technological hardware brand HTC, for the two "Google Nexus 2016" phones, namely, the "Sailfish" and it's pricier, high-end version, the "Marlin". The two "Nexus" phones will offer the same features, though the larger "Marlin" will have a longer battery life with better resolution says BGR.

The Android Police has revealed the specs for only one of the "Google Nexus 2016" phones, namely the "Marlin". The "Marlin" will feature  a 5.5 QHD AMOLED display, a USB-C port, a 12 MP back camera, an 8 MP front camera, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 4 GB worth of RAM, bottom speakers, and Bluetooth 4.2. The "Sailfish" will undoubtedly have the same specs, albeit a few minor differences.

The "Google Nexus 2016" phones will be running on Android's latest software, the "Nougat 7.0", and will have quite the processor with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon, according to PC Advisor. This promises that both "Nexus" phones will give their soon-to-be owners an ever better and faster smartphone.

The release date for the "Google Nexus 2016" phones is rumored to be early October, though many are speculating an earlier release, to match the launch of Android's new "Nougat 7.0" software. The price range for the "Sailfish" is set around $300, while the higher end "Marlin" is somewhere around the $450 dollar mark.
