NBA Trade Rumors: Will Knicks Acquire Ben McLemore? Sixers Might Also Be Interested

The Sacramento Kings has made Ben McLemore available in the trading block. More than the team who will acquire him, the 23-year-old shooting guard will benefit the most with the change. And the New York Knicks is reportedly interested in dealing him.

According to Sportsblog.com, it would make sense for Knicks to have a player like Ben McLemore now that the Kings has made him available. He would be a good backup for the starter Courtney Lee or serve as a high ceiling going forward. His cost is also at an all-time low. But more than that, McLemore would be better off the Sacramento Kings so he could address his inconsistencies last season. The publication noted that the Kings is not a conducive environment for young players and a change in a team would help McLemore to improve his game. The Kings, on the other hand, may have Kyle O'Quinn and draft picks.

Meanwhile, the Sixer Sense said that the Philadelphia Sixers could also trade Ben McLemore for Kendall Marshall, which will give the team the depth on the wing that it needs. McLemore needs to improve his game and that is definitely possible if his environment changes. The publication noted that the Kings' coaching and organizational changes could be attributing factors in McLemore's down year.

In the 2015-2016 NBA season, McLemore only averaged 7.8 points per game, down from the previous season's 12.1 points. Nonetheless, that could also be due to his lesser minutes on the court as he played an average of 21 minutes a night last season compared to 32 minutes the previous year.

Other NBA teams that would be interested in acquiring Ben McLemore include the Atlanta Hawks. SportsRageous reported that the Hawks might be interested in dealing Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore for Tiago Splitter, Thabo Sefolosha, Mike Muscala and the conditional pick from Minnesota.

NBA 2016-2017 season is expected to begin in October.
