Tear-Jerking Courtroom Scene: Judge Allows Father Under Trial To Meet Newborn Baby For The First Time [VIDEO]

Many dramatic episodes unfold in the courtroom. Summoning minor witnesses, recalling crime incidents, tackling sensitive issues, and hearing guilty verdicts are some of the drama the courtroom endures every trial.

CBS News reports a tear-jerking incident last week at a Jefferson County courtroom where a suspected thief and his newborn baby met each other for the first time. Judge Amber Wolf allowed the father and son to share their first precious moment in the courtroom before they had to part ways again.

Caught on courtroom video, the female judge clarified that her issued no-contact order between James Roeder and his wife Ashley is still in effect. But she temporarily lifted the restriction when she saw Ashley enter the courtroom with a month-old baby and realized that James had been in custody, which disabled him from seeing his son.

The female judge first asked Ashley if it was fine that James enter the courtroom and see his son. When Ashley said yes, James was granted the opportunity to meet and be up close with the newborn baby for the very first time. Ashley and James were in tears when the latter held the baby and kissed him.

The kind-hearted judge thanked Ashley for the beautiful moment they shared in the courtroom. "Thank you for letting me be a part of that...Congratulations again," said Wolf as quoted by CBS News. She also made a remark that if someone wasn't moved by the father and son moment, he/she is heartless.

As per Jezebel, James Roeder and Ashley are co-defendants in the same case. They are being accused of entering a warehouse and stealing flat-screen television units.

According to another CBS News article, Judge Wolf had already made a humanist brand when she reprimanded jail officials for failing to provide a female prisoner with a jail jumpsuit and pants. Wolf angrily talked to the jail officials over the phone and after their discussion, apologized to the aggrieved woman who was released thereafter with a $100 fine.
