Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Fight 2015 - Date & Tickets: Sold Out Within Minutes for a Maximum of $141K

The tickets for the Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight on May 2, 2015 were sold out in less than 30 minutes! BBC reported that the number of tickets were completely exhausted in just minutes of time with prices ranging to a maximum of $141,000.

1,000 tickets were believed to have been available to the public for sale for the long-awaited ring match in MGM Grand Las Vegas. Word has it that the lowest priced tickets were valued at USD$1,500. Buyers were able to purchase tickets at $7,500 once the cheapest tickets were sold out.

The money earned from ticket sales were believed to have went to charity donations. According to Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s promoter, Leonard Ellerbe:

"The weigh-in is always the grand finale of fight week activities,"

"And with the massive interest in this fight, the number of fans looking to attend the official weigh-in is going to be something we've never seen before".

BBC reported the match between the two boxing champs to had been scheduled since February. However, final arrangements for tickets sales were only made available within the past week.

On Thursday at 20:00 BST, the tickets for the match started to go on sale online via MGM Grand's official website and Ticketmaster, according to BBC. In a few minutes' time, ticket sales were up on Stubhub. The lowest value of tickets sold on this site was $5,270. Stubhub is Ebay's subsidiary buying and selling site.

The Pacquiao-Mayweather ring showdown has been in proposal for the last five years. The match is expected to generate hundreds of millions in revenue, BBC additionally reported.

To date, Mayweather has won a total of 47 matches, 26 of these fights were won by knockouts. Meanwhile, Pacquiao has a total of 57 ring victories, five losses and two draws under his belt.

The New York Post cited one avid boxing fan looking into the Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown in the following perspective:

"If it turns out to be a great fight, then nobody will remember how screwed up everything has been...If it's a bad fight, it could do more harm than good for boxing."

The Guardian reported, though, that Mayweather sees victory for himself next week when he faces Pacquiao. The publication cited the American boxing champ admitted to looking up to a role model named, Frank Brown. Mayweather fondly recalled of Mr. Brown, saying:

"I've known him since I was the age of three. He has supported me more than anyone. He has always said: 'Floyd, one day you will be the best fighter in the world.' He was always taking me to church, taking me through different activities. He was like a grandfather to me. He would drive anywhere [to fights]. It could be in Little Rock, Arkansas. He would drive from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to come support me. He would sit in the room with me and say prayers with me."
