'Mr. Robot' News And Updates: Series Now Has A Mobile Game, Played Via Fake messaging App

The hit series "Mr. Robot," which centers on cybersecurity, finally has a mobile game counterpart. The game is called "Mr. Robot: 1.51 exfiltrati0n.ipa" for the iOS application archive file format while it is called "Mr. Robot: 1.51exfiltrati0n.apk" on Google Play. The game could be played via a fake messaging app that is similar to the fictional E-Corp messaging app on the show.

The psychological thriller T.V. series "Mr. Robot" has become so popular that Telltale Games came up with the game in association with NBC Universal. The game was developed by Night School Studio in collaboration with Universal Cable Productions, Engadget reported.

Tech Crunch reported that the game is played via the E-Corp messaging app and allows players to communicate real time with the characters in the show. The game focuses on the first season of "Mr. Robot" and in the first part of the game, the player finds a smartphone on the ground located outside the Fun Society Arcade at Coney Island.

The Fun Society Arcade is the meeting place of the hacking group and the phone found by the player belongs to Darlene, who is one of the main characters of the show. Darlene is a black hat hacker and is later set to commit a large-scale cybercrime on "Mr. Robot."

The players will be able to play the "Mr. Robot" mobile game by texting the different employees of E-Corp, which is the global tech company targeted by the hacking group on the show. Other characters that player get to interact with are Cisco and Darlene. Via the messages sent to the employees of E-Corp, the player will have to make choices that in turn have consequences affecting how the game goes.

The Senior Vice President for the Publishing at Telltale Games, Steve Allison, said in a statement, "There's a distinct Telltale style to all of the character interactions that our fans will find familiar, and fans of the show will be engrossed all through the night as they race to help fsociety pull off the unthinkable."

The game, however, is not free as it requires one to pay $2.99 per download. It does not include in-app purchases yet.
