'GTA 6' Release Date, News & Update: Could Rockstar’s New ‘Grand Theft Auto’ Be Announced Soon? Take-Two Interactive Protective Of Detail Leaks?

Recent "GTA 6" news based on Take-Two Interactive financial report may have seemingly confirmed Rockstar releasing a new "Grand Theft Auto" soon. However, Take-Two Interactive is reportedly quite protective against any leak that confirms "GTA 6" development by Rockstar is underway or that the new "Grand Theft Auto" iteration will definitely be available.

Real Money on The Street cites speculations that "GTA 6" will be available as early as the 2016 holiday season. However, according to the media outlet, "GTA 6" details are not likely to come from Take-Two Interactive any time soon.

"Take-Two's communications head felt it necessary to yell at me on the phone following a recent interview with its CEO in which the headline suggested GTA 6 was on the way (no comment on how I responded to this phone call...)," the media outlet's correspondent states. According to The Street, such protectiveness by Take-Two Interactive over "GTA 6" information is understandable given the continuous success being enjoyed by "Grand Theft Auto 5" on micro-transactions.

The media outlet points out that should "GTA 6" details be released prematurely, income from "Grand Theft Auto" 5 could dry up quickly in anticipation of the new Rockstar game. Parent Herald cites reports, however, that Rockstar could drop a "GTA 6" announcement at Gamescom 2016.

Such a Gamescom 2016 surprise now seems unlikely if this reveal by The Street on Take-Two Interactive over "GTA 6" is any basis. Rockstar fans had been wondering if Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, Germany will bring word on either "GTA 6" or "Red Dead Redemption."

Word is that fans would not mind Rockstar skipping "GTA 6" for a little while longer if the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise developer brings in "Red Dead Redemption" instead. Given the massive sales and marketing success of "Grand Theft Auto" 5, an immediate release of "GTA 6" may in fact bring on franchise fatigue. In any case, fans have been waiting longer for "Red Dead Redemption" than for "GTA 6."

Still, if Rockstar does bring on "GTA 6" early, reception would not likely be lukewarm. Are you among those that hope to see "GTA 6" released by Rockstar as early as 2016 to 2017?
