'The Winds of Winter' Release Date: Book Delayed Because It Is the Longest? Fans Unconvinced, Thinks GRRM Is Busy With Public Appearances

Fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series have been patiently waiting for "The Winds of Winter" for five years and counting. According to reports, the delay was due to the length of the book. The upcoming book, "The Winds of Winter" is reportedly the longest book in the series. However, fans think that George RR Martin could speed up the process if he focuses on writing instead of attending conventions.

According to Newsweek, each book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel has increased in size. The first book, "A Game of Thrones," which was published in August 1996 had only 704 pages. Meanwhile, the last book, "A Dance with Dragons" published in July 2011 had 1,040 pages. This triggered the speculations that "The Winds of Winter" will be the longest book in the series as of yet.

However, despite the length of "The Winds of Winter," some fans are slowly losing interest in the book due to the long wait. For some "ASOIAF" fans, if "The Winds of Winter" arrives later this or early next month, it will take another five years to see the final book, "A Dream of Spring." It would be another long wait.

In fact, some "ASOIAF" fans are expressing concern if George RR Martin could still finish "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring." Many are expecting to see how Martin ends the book and the creative and genius writer is aging, which alarms fans that Martin might pass away and leave the fate of the precious series to some other writers.

Per Mother Jones, the constant delay of "The Winds of Winter" is hurting George RR Martin and not the fans. The long wait may eventually convince other fans to move on from the series and some others may just lose interest in the book.

Parent Herald previously reported that George RR Martin himself is also disappointed with his slow phase in writing, "The Winds of Winter." In fact, he wrote on his blog that he will decline future invitations and commitment until he finishes the sixth "ASOIAF" book. Unfortunately, Martin is still busy with convention.

This year he attended Balticon and even returned sick from the said convention, which could have delayed his progress for "The Winds of Winter." Just recently, Martin Worldcon. Some fans blame Martin's public appearances for the delays of his book. However, some sources claim that given George RR Martin's phase, "TWOW" is still on time.

Do you agree that George RR Martin should be true to his words and skip public conventions until he finishes "The Winds of Winter?" Do you believe that the book is still not delayed? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
