'Arrow' Season 5 News And Updates: Thea Set To Become Oliver's Chief Of Staff Says Show's Executive Producer

Many changes are in store in "Arrow" Season 5 after Oliver Queen has become the mayor of Star City and still protecting the citizens by playing his role as the vigilante, Green Arrow. His half-sister, Thea Queen, will also be taking on a new role, which is the chief of staff of Oliver, as announced by the executive producer of the show, Marc Guggenheim.

Guggenheim said in a statement that the new career path of Thea will give her a chance to define herself and to give herself a new standing rather than just being the shadow of her father, Malcolm Merlyn. Guggenheim went on to say that Thea will be surprised on how well she will be handling the chief of staff post and that she has learned a lot by watching her mother and by running Verdant. The executive producer of "Arrow" added, "She's a much better chief of staff than Oliver is a mayor, Comic Book reported.

Thea suffered a lot from the past season of "Arrow." She lost both of her parents and was manipulate to commit murder by her father. She was also resurrected from the dead, which had very violent effects on her.

In the end of "Arrow" Season 4, Thea was also damaged by Damen Darhk's plan to end the world. The plan resulted in Alex's death, Thea's boyfriend. Due to the death of Alex, she decided to take a step back from being the vigilante crime fighter, Speedy. It remains unclear if Thea will continue to just be the chief of staff and ultimately resign from being Speedy in "Arrow" Season 5, Screen Rant reported.

More on "Arrow" Season 5, Oliver will reportedly find himself having a difficult time being the mayor and being Green Arrow. Team Green Arrow is also down to just Oliver and Felicity as Diggle is also sent back to the military. A new group of heroes will reportedly be seen in "Arrow" Season 5 after Green Arrow's public defeat of Damien Darhk inspired them to help protect the city. However, they might do more damage than help Oliver.
