'Dancing With the Stars' 2015 Cast: Demi Moore & Bruce Willis Discuss Divorce's Effect on Daughter Rumer

Celebrity daughter Rumer Willis is a huge fan favorite in this season's "Dancing with the Stars" (DWTS), and she has been impressing the judges with every performance since the season began. However, during the May 11 episode of the show, her mother, Demi Moore, opened up for the first time about Rumer's journey in the talent contest.

She said that when Rumer first told her she wanted to join the show, Demi's initial reaction was to discourage her daughter. "My whole insides, I have to be honest, were screaming, 'No,'" the actress revealed in a taped interview, according to People Magazine.

However, Demi had a change of heart about her daughter's participation in the show when she saw that Rumer gained confidence because of DWTS. "One of the most beautiful things I've witnessed is watching her passion become greater than her fear. It has nothing to do with her being my kid or Bruce's kid. It has everything to do with just who she is," Demi said.

It's a big change from her daughter's demeanor during her younger years. Demi admits that the decision to get a divorce from Bruce Willis, Rumer's father, has hit Rumer the hardest. "There really wasn't anything I could do to stop it. Her self-esteem was nothing. I could only just keep loving her and loving her until she could love herself," Demi further revealed in the interview.

Bruce was also featured in the taped interview and could only gush and say, "I love her." The ex-couple have been cheering for Rumer constantly on the show. They have been seen together with the rest of the family in the audience more than once.

"It's a funny thing, you can have your parents tell you those things your whole life but if you have them not necessarily say it [directly] to you, I feel like sometimes you listen more. I feel so blessed they have such nice things to say about me," Rumer said after her performance in this week's DWTS episode, as reported by Fox News.

In the morning, Demi tweeted a photo of her and Rumer and captioned this with, "So proud of my baby girl @TheRue #pureinspiration #purelove."
