'Making A Murderer' Season 2: Steven Avery Case Grows Stronger With 'Crucial Witnesses' Coming Forward

The case of Steven Avery, the central figure in Netflix's "Making a Murderer," is seemingly getting another boost. The defense's lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, claims that there are "crucial witnesses" coming forward who could help exonerate Avery.

Zellner revealed this fact in a Twitter post on Sept. 4. The lawyer for the subject of "Making a Murderer" said that new witnesses have been coming forward following the re-examination of previous evidences using more advanced scientific methods.

However, no other details were provided about the identities of these "crucial witnesses" or how the new tests convinced them to come out and help the defense featured in "Making a Murderer." But Steven Avery's lawyer is confident about the results, which is also compounded by Brendan Dassey's conviction overturn last August. Dassey, Avery's nephew, is also the subject of the "Making a Murderer" documentary.

Meanwhile, Mirror reports that while Brendan Dassey is set to be released from prison by November 12, the 26-year-old is supposedly having mixed feelings. As "Making a Murderer" has shown in the first season, Dassey has been incarcerated for the last 10 years after allegedly helping his uncle in the murder of Teresa Halbach. As seen in "Making a Murderer," Dassey was a minor when he first entered prison, but he has changed big time. He is supposedly both scared and excited about finally being free.

On the flipside, the state has until Sept. 12 to appeal Brendan Dassey's overturn. The "Making a Murderer" defense was expecting that the prosecution would make an announcement regarding this last Friday, Sept. 2. However, a spokesperson for the state's justice department said that they have nothing to announce just yet despite speculations coming from Zellner, per WBay.

It is believed that the producers behind "Making a Murderer" Season 2 is documenting the latest development in Avery's and Dassey's cases. Netflix has yet to reveal when the new documentary will be released on its streaming site.
