Parenting News & Updates: Striving For Perfection? Why No One Has All The Answers About Parenting

In spite of the incomparable feeling of joy and happiness being a parent brings, raising a child can also be tough. That's why, no one can really blame parents if they get worried and paranoid about their parenting styles, especially at a time where judgments are easily given.

Even though a parent's parenting style could be impactful on children's well-being, it could also provide some insights on parents' personalities and upbringing. Parenting or determining the best parenting style, however, remains a complex subject matter that no one can actually have all the answers and it's seemed like a "trial-and-error" thing.

So, why no one has all the answers when it comes to parenting? Could it be because there's really no one-size-fits-all approach in parenting, where one practice may be a success to a parent but a failure to the other?

Parenting bloggers and Canadian siblings Leigh Combrink and Meg Wismer also stressed that mistakes are really inevitable in parenting, according to Huffington Post Canada. But what's redeeming about parenting life is that lessons never end -- as life continues to move fast, lessons keep on shedding some light as well.

It's best to accept the fact that parenting isn't really about striving for perfection. To make parenting a beautiful and excitingly easy adventure, parents should stop worrying and assuming that successful parenting is based on natural talents or instincts. In fact, Psych Central revealed that parenting is really a skill --  a skill to learn and to practice.

For effective parenting practices, psychologist Erica Reischer shared five significant ways in her book titled, "What Great Parents Do: 75 Simple Strategies for Raising Kids Who Thrive." Going back to Wismer and Combrink, they said that parenting sometimes can be filled with hypocrisy and before changing to change your children's behavior, parents should be the first one to make a change.

The aforementioned statement seemed to echo one of Reischer's effective parenting strategies. The others include empathy to kids, taking responsibility for your mistakes, practicing new behaviors and learning from it and lastly, parents should match their actions to their values.

In other parenting-related reports, parenting is also plagued with gender gap issues. How different are the moms from the dads when it comes to parenting? In an article published on Huffington Post U.S., contributor Sharon Bush outlined the different ways men and women raise a child.

Meanwhile, it's already a given fact that parents sometimes worry or have some second thoughts about their parenting skills. Always remember, though, that unsuccessful parenting still has a room for changes and improvements, especially with some conscious effort from the parents. Although there are thousands of parenting books and resources out there, the reality remains that no one has all the answers on parenting.
