Football News: Lionel Messi Has FC Barcelona Contract “For Life”

Without a doubt, Lionel Messi is one of the greatest, if not the greatest football player in the world today, and his team FC Barcelona, knows it, which is why, according to FC Barcelona President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, the Spanish club will offer Messi a contract for life.

Lionel Messi is one of the greatest football players to ever set foot on Barcelona's Camp Nou, or any football pitch in the world. The 29- year old striker from Argentina has played for the prestigious Spanish league giants, FC Barcelona, since he was only a teenager, and was promoted to play for the team's starting 11 on his 18th birthday, since then, "Leo" has been one of the most revered players in all of Europe, and the world.

 The president of FC Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has said that Messi, if he chooses to stay, will forever be in the Barcelona squad, and they would never let their prized striker go. Bartomeu, speaking with ESPN FC, says that Messi has all the years he wants in Barcelona, being the best the squad has had over the years, adding that Messi is very important to the club, to the fans, and to all of football as well. Bartomeu further stated that Messi's playing limit will be up to him, as he is still very talented and at the top of his game.

According to GOAL, Messi's contract with Barcelona will expire in June of 2018, but he and the organization will be in talks of an extension, and undoubtedly, Messi will return to his long-time club.

Recently, Messi has gone back to playing for the Argentinian men's international football team, after briefly retiring from the squad, following their disappointing run the Copa America Centenario over the summer.

Currently, FC Barcelona sits in 2nd in the La Liga standings, behind Las Palmas, after 2 games and scoring 7 goals.
