Nintendo Ups Game With Super Mario Run In iPhone 7

During the annual launch by the tech giant, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the three-decade-old game franchise would be available on the App Store by December. Super Mario Run is the first Nintendo game in the iOS, the Associated Press reported.

Players control Mario in going through a series of obstacles while collecting coins. Users can also multitask as this game can be played with one hand. According to Reuters, the game also has multiplayer feature in higher levels, Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the 35-year-old  Mario character, said during the launch.

The price is still yet to be revealed.  Nintendo also didn't mention when the game will be available to Android users.

After the announcement, Nintendo's shares soared by more than 13 percent by noon in Tokyo, The New York Times reported. It also estimated the market value of the company to be up by $4 billion.

For the past years Nintendo had been more focused on making gaming gadgets, but it has teamed up for 18 months with DeNA, a mobile specialist, in order to penetrate the mobile gaming world, according to The New York Times report.

Nintendo has also collaborated with Niantic in producing the hit augmented reality game Pokemon Go. Nintendo hopes that Super Mario Run would be akin to Pokemon Go, which has more than a billion download.

Apple Inc. launched its latest smartphone, boasting its waterproof feature which is known as the edge of competitor Samsung. iPhone7 also introduced the Air pods-cordless earphones-the first of its kind from Apple, and the Apple Watch with swim-proof casing and fitness feature.
