'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Release Date, News Update: ‘TWD’ Needs Glenn, Maggie Deaths In S7?

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere needs the deaths of Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) for the "TWD" series. While fans remain hopeful for Glenn and Maggie, the "TWD" series couple reportedly have to be sacrificed to trigger the events that fans of the AMC series now see trickling in for "The Walking Dead" Season 7.

Reports on "The Walking Dead" changes had been heavy on Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) group fracturing as a result of Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) vendetta in the "TWD" Season 7 premiere. As "TWD" executive producer and director Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly, the purpose of heightening the deaths of Glenn and Maggie (presumably) in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere is to emphasize how one event can change the world for Rick Grimes and his group in a split second.

  Although "TWD" fans will have to wait for "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere to see if Glenn and Maggie die, two conditions convincingly tag the AMC series couple as leading candidates. The first condition is that Maggie is pregnant but became inexplicably ill so that the"TWD" star was shown in a fragile condition in "The Walking Dead" Season 6 finale.

The second condition is that Glenn Rhee survived Glenngate in "The Walking Dead" Season 6 midseason. As Comicbook cites Steven Yeun in explaining, Glenn Rhee made it to "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere out of the final heroics of cowardly Nicholas (Michael Traynor).

A double exit by Glenn and Maggie is more than enough for "TWD" fans to understand why Rick Grimes' group will be divided so badly and why betrayals are on their way in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. Greg Nicotero further explained on Entertainment Weekly that "The Walking Dead" Season 7 opener is not only about the death blow Negan delivers to his victims, Glenn and Maggie possibly, but mainly about stripping Rick Grimes of any false sense of power and control.
