'Half Life 3' Release Date & Updates: Game Confirmed But Will Be The Last; Valve To Implement The Kraken Base?

For those waiting for the next "Half Life" game, we understand that things have been tough. It's been over a decade since Valve release "Half Life 2" and since then fans and gamers have been looking forward to playing "Half Life 3" but the developers are reluctant to push the franchise any further.

However, according to recent reports, there are still high chances that "Half Life 3" is in development. In fact, Valve is already considering the concept that they will be incorporating in the next "Half Life" game.

According to Mobipicker, Valve will feature the Kraken Base. This concept was originally created for "Half Life 2" for the beginning of the game for some reasons they opted to cut it and replaced it with a train sequence.

For those who had played "Half Life 2," you are probably familiar with Borealis. Per the report, Borealis dates back at May 1999 and this was where Gordon Freeman's adventure was supposed to start.

There are different versions of this concept and some compare this to the Tanker opening sequence in Metal Gear Solid 2. In one version of the game, the player would enter a submarine and go to the Kraken Base.

In the said plot, the player would meet Doctor Helena Mossman who betrays the team. She will put Gordon and the rest of the research team in danger but Gordon will survive the destruction of the Kraken base.

Meanwhile, one Reddit user suggested that Valve might just release "Half Life 3" without any warning or announcement. There are speculations that the anticipated game will just show up on Steam one day without any trailer or teasers beforehand.

At the time, reports are rife that "Half Life 3" will arrive in 2018, when the franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. There are also rumors that Valve is developing a VR support for "Half Life 3."
