‘Empire’ Season 3 Latest Spoilers: Character Death Confirmed; Mariah Carey, Taraji P. Henson Clashing Or Not In New Installment?

"Empire" is set to conquer Fall TV's Wednesday night lineup starting tonight, and fans should prepare themselves for Season 3 picks up where the Season 2 finale left off. The last time "Empire" aired on national TV, viewers saw Grace Gealey's Anika and Kaitlin Doubleday's Rhonda getting into a physical fight on the side of a balcony.

The tense cliffhanger is likely going to be the opening sequence of "Empire" Season 3's premiere episode. After all, actress Taraji P. Henson, who plays Cookie Lyon on the hit Fox series, confirmed to Extra back in August that someone is dying.

"They send us the script and then everybody's calling each other like... 'What? What? What?' And then you have to wait until September 21," Henson said at the time after confirming to the televised daily newsmagazine.

It isn't clear who between Anika and Rhonda is flatlining on the show's fall premiere, but executive producer Ilene Chaiken already confirmed at the Television Critics Association early last month that fans would see the Season 2 cliffhanger play out "in a fabulous and heart-stopping way," as quoted by Variety.

Even though the tension between Anika and Rhonda would be addressed in the premiere episode, fans should still expect more drama to happen in future episodes. Fortunately, relationship strains could not be in the cards for Cookie as Henson revealed recently that her character will not get entangled in some kind of tension with Mariah Carey's Kitty.

Speaking to E! News at the Toronto International Film Festival last week, Terrence Howard's on-again, off again lover on the show set the record straight that Cookie and Kitty are friends.

"Everything things (sic) that, but no drama," Henson said. "She's actually an ally of mine on the show."

Nick Cannon's ex-wife is reportedly set to make an appearance on "Empire" Season 3 this October. Her character is described as a superstar who would engage in some studio work with Jussie Smollett's Jamal.
