'The Winds of Winter' Release Date & Update: GRRM Teases 'GoT' Prequel But Prioritizes 'TWOW?'

For those following the popular novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire," the release date of the next book is still dim. In the recently concluded Emmy Awards night, George RR Martin teases about the "Game of Thrones" prequel but reports have it that the celebrity author's priority is still the long overdue book "The Winds of Winter."

According to Deadline, George RR Martin teases about the "Game of Thrones" prequel in the Emmys backstage. The popular scribe admitted that he has thousands of pages about the events prior to "Game of Thrones."

However, before fans get too excited, George RR Martin added that they are still working on the last season of "Game of Thrones" and on the two remaining "ASOIAF" books namely, "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring."

When the "Game of Thrones" prequel reports come to life, fans of "The Winds of Winter" are alarmed as it might further delay the anticipated book. George RR Martin already said that he has thousands of pages ready for the prequel but this does not leave "TWOW" fans unalarmed.

Last Tuesday, George RR Martin turned 68 years old and fans are getting weary because their favorite scribe is getting older. Their fears that Martin will not be able to finish the book due to old age just grew.

Parent Herald previously reported that "The Winds of Winter" is not coming out this year. Georg RR Martin is too distracted to finish the book. He is also too busy for his public appearances.

However, per Christian Post, George RR Martin's priority is finishing "The Winds of Winter." Well, we agree that he should because there is still one book after "TWOW" and it might take another five years or so before we see "A Dream of Spring."
