‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 6 Latest News & Spoilers: Emma’s Bleak Future As Savior Echoes Aladdin’s; Charming’s Mother Returns

The sixth season of "Once Upon a Time" is almost here and viewers will get to meet another beloved fairytale character. Aladdin will be introduced, though Season 6 will present a darker storyline for him that will serve as a glimpse into Emma's future.

In the opening episode for "Once Upon a Time" Season 6, the audience will know that Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) was once a savior just like Emma (Jennifer Morrison), TVGuide.com reported. Aladdin, however, isn't in a good state because of the serious consequences of the Savior mythology, which encompasses him and Emma.

As what was revealed by Jafar (Oded Fehr), the fate of saviors is to "give and give to the people they are meant to save until there is almost nothing left of themselves to give," the news outlet further reported. Aside from this burden, saviors will always have their ultimate villain.

Jafar will always be Aladdin's ultimate villain, whereas Emma's is the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla). "Once Upon a Time" co-creator Eddy Kitsis said that Emma will face great odds now that the Evil Queen has been unleashed and is a threat to the inhabitants of Storybrooke.

Gabrielle Rose will be reprising her role as Prince Charming's (Josh Dallas) mother, Ruth, on "Once Upon a Time" Season 6, TVLine reported. Ruth last appeared in the ABC drama's Season 4 "Frozen" flashbacks. Rose will return to her role in Episode 7 flashbacks of the upcoming season.

Dallas said at Comic-Con 2016 that Charming/David will discover "some things that he thought were truths in his life ... maybe weren't so true," TVLine added. This arc was already seen in the introduction of the malevolent Evil Queen, who has all of Regina's former memories.

Aside from Rose, Tzi Ma will also reprise his role as The Dragon for "Once Upon a Time" Season 6, according to Entertainment Weekly. The magical being first appeared in Season 2, but resurfaced in the Season 5 finale when the Evil Queen ripped his heart out. Judging from this news, The Dragon remains alive though he may be under the Evil Queen's power.

Kitsis told TVLine that the theme for Season 6 will be about "the duality of ourselves." The upcoming season will also deal with the arrival of people from the Land of Untold Stories to Storybrooke.

The new arrivals will seek Emma and her group's help, while others will lean towards "darker forces," Parent Herald previously reported. "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 premieres on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on ABC.
