'Overwatch' News Updates: PTR Patch Reveals New Character Lines, New Character Lore?

The latest Blizzard PTR (Public Test Realm) Patch for "Overwatch" opens a treasure trove of character lore. The "Overwatch" PTR Patch essentially adds brand new voice lines for the hit team play game.

The "Overwatch" PTR Patch is a beta release of the next patch that Blizzard is planning to deliver for the game officially. What is in the "Overwatch" PTR may make a release or may not.

The "Overwatch" PTR Patch, however, gives Blizzard a test bed to sample their ideas with the public. Players can install the "Overwatch" PTR Patch through their Battle.net client and log on to it to see what Blizzard is working on without interfering with the main official installation.

Intrepid "Overwatch" fans have data mined the PTR files to find a lot of new voice lines for the heroes in the game. Intrepid these "Overwatch" fans are indeed with their research leading to a very likely release date for the mysterious new character Sombra as Parent Herald reports.

Redditor Venxa compiled some of these "Overwatch" voice lines and are available for listening. Some of the "Overwatch" voice lines enhance the automatic chatter between characters.

For example "Overwatch" lines now exist for Zenyatta and Ana in that invite other players fro healing. "Overwatch" character Mei could also be heard telling Reinhardt to keep his hammer himself (probably after Reinhardt asks for a group up).

Many of the lines also acknowledge power-ups from other "Overwatch" heroes. Winston's "feeling powerful, and 'm not even angry" is probably directly triggered from Ana's Nano-Boost ultimate, as well as Zenyatta's "I feel greatly empowered."

A lot of these "Overwatch" voice lines seem to have been put in place to add more personality and humor to the character lines. Case in point, McCree, the "Overwatch" BAMF, solemnly speaks of evil in the hearts of men.

"Overwatch" players would also get to hear Junkrat suggesting a visit to the beach. Hanzo would also let "Overwatch" players his remark to his opponent about concern for his presence.

Although these "Overwatch" additions are minor, they increase a wealth of personality to a game already overflowing with character. "Overwatch" is currently available for PS4, PC and Xbox One.
