NASA To Add A 13th Zodiac Sign? Here Is What NASA Has To Say

NASA debunked reports that a 13th zodiac has been added to the current list of zodiac signs. The news came following reports that there is an additional zodiac which was revealed by a NASA report in its children's website. Apparently, the NASA report may just be misconstrued.

"Here at NASA, we study astronomy, not astrology. We didn't change any zodiac signs, we just did the math," NASA reported. NASA clarified that it did not intend to add a new zodiac but it just explained that there were 13 constellations instead of 12 that are represented by the zodiac signs. This, however, does not mean that NASA will distort how the constellation would represent the zodiac signs as they study astronomy and not astrology.

Reports claiming that there is a new zodiac sign started when NASA published a report on NASA Space Place website for children. "But even according to the Babylonians' own ancient stories, there were 13 constellations in the zodiac," NASA SpacePlace reported. The report revealed that the Babylonians only chose 12 out of the 13 constellations and decided to remove a certain constellation called Ophiuchus.

The report from NASA Space Place discussed that people apparently believed that the change in the position of constellations may affect them significantly. So, the Babylonians assigned zodiac signs derived from the constellations to each month in their calendar. Since Babylonians already established a 12-month calendar based on the moon, it may just be reasonable for them to remove Ophiuchus to match the number of months in their calendar.

Meanwhile, it is important to note that Astrology and Astrology are two different studies. Astronomy is science while Astrology is not according to the NASA report. NASA defined Astrology as "the scientific study of everything in outer space."

NASA also made it clear that no one has proven that a person's future and personality could be predicted with the use of Astrology. Additionally, the astronomers of NASA along with their other scientists are aware that stars, which are light years far from the Earth, could not affect "the ordinary activities" of humans.
