‘For Honor’ News & Updates: Single Player Story Campaign Revealed, To Be A ‘Full Experience’

Ubisoft's upcoming action hack and slash video game "For Honor" has been getting more limelight after its recent alpha test, with its focus on tactical melee-centric combat and somewhat realistic approach intriguing players; though many believed the game will be a multiplayer game, it seems that "For Honor" will also have a fully devoted single player campaign for gamers more into story.

In an interview with GameSpot, "For Honor" creative director Jason VandenBerghe said that the game will have a "full story campaign." Similar to the campaigns present in Blizzard's "WarCraft" and "StarCraft" real time strategy games, the single player campaign in "For Honor" will be a "cinematic adventure" that will put players into the shoes of members of each of the respective factions.

According to VandenBerghe, the "For Honor" single player story campaign will first tell the story of the Warden's Knights, then the Viking Raiders, with the third story being that of the Samurai of the Orochi. Throughout the "For Honor" single player story campaign, players will get to visit each of the homelands of the three factions.

Presumably, this means that the "For Honor" story campaign will actually show locations that are more heavily influenced by Medieval Europe, Norse culture, and Feudal Japan. The single player story campaign will apparently have enough content so that players who would much prefer to focus on the game's story and single-play will have enough to sate them even if they "never went online and played multiplayer."

Aside from the single player story campaign reveal, other news for the game comes from another interview VandenBerghe had with Stevivor.  In the interview, VandenBerghe told of the recent changes they made to the multiplayer mechanics in "For Honor."

One of the most prominent yet subtle changes in the "For Honor" multiplayer is that killing players while alone in the Dominion match type now awards double points compared to doing it in the group. Because of this, players now have even more incentive to change up their tactics in a match like splitting up to maximize their point gain.

Overall, it seems like the "For Honor" will have something to offer for soloist players who individually prefer either multiplayer or single player; with added benefits for going solo in online multiplayer and a fully-fledged single player story campaign for those who want it. "For Honor" will release in Valentine's Day Feb. 14, 2017.
