'The Get Down' Season 2 Air Date, News & Update: Netflix Series Creator Confirms Filming? S2 News Dispels Jaden Smith Suicide Hoax Buzz?

Netflix original series "The Get Down," from creator Baz Luhrmann, is confirmed to be filming for Season 2. "The Get Down," which stars Books Figueroa (Justice Smith), Shaolin Fantastic (Shameik Moore) and Mylene Cruz (Herizen F. Guardiola), has been rating well among Netflix originals.

New York Daily News reports that Baz Luhrmann himself confirmed production work for "The Get Down" Season 2. Baz Luhrmann made the confirmation shortly after news began to spread that "The Get Down" actor Jaden Smith ( Marcus 'Dizzee' Kipling) committed suicide.

The Jaden Smith suicide hoax is disturbing at best as Baz Luhrmann points out. As it happens, Jaden Smith had been set to film for "The Get Down" Season 2 when the story made the rounds.

"The Get Down" Season 1 has yet to complete its run and already, the Netflix production already has had to dispel major misdirections. Cancellation rumors followed "The Get Down" release citing overly expensive production costs by Baz Luhrmann.

Netflix released the first part of "The Get Down" Season 1 on Aug 12 enjoying enthusiastic reception. Part two of "The Get Down" Season 1 is set for release in 2017 by Netflix.

Parent Herald cites reports that "The Get Down" Season 2 is set to bring in a slew of new characters to join Books Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic, and Mylene Cruz. Casting for the Netflix series is anticipated to get a significant changeover at Season 2.

This follows the shift of "The Get Down" series from a '70s setting in Season 1 onto the '80s in S2. The transition into the '80s scene is a bold move given how "The Get Down" developed a unique appeal through its retro theme.

Nonetheless, "The Get Down" supervising producer-writer Nelson George is optimistic."The Get Down" Season 2 will have interesting developments to feature from the '80s era.

Justice Smith, Shameik Moore, Herizen F. Guardiola and Jaden Smith are anticipated to make the '80s buzz when "The Get Down" Season 2 is released in 2018. Have you caught "The Get Down" fever yet?
