NBA Free Agency: Cavaliers Signed Toney Douglas To Replace Mo Williams; J.R. Smith Is Not Alerted On Cavs' Decision

The Cleveland Cavaliers already signed NBA free agent point guard Toney Douglas Monday. As the Cavaliers signed the veteran point guard, this leaves J.R. Smith a speechless message over the Twitter.

It's no secret that the Cleveland Cavaliers are in search of a backup point guard for Kyrie Irving. The Forbes reported that the Cavaliers already contacted 3 potential NBA free agents to fill the position.

Now the search is over the Cleveland Cavaliers signed the veteran point guard Toney Douglas. It's now obvious that the Cavaliers would not rely on the Rookie Kay Felder to full time job as a backup guard to Kyrie Irving.

Toney Douglas will not be filling up the lack of bench depth specially at the point guard position. Douglas would now have the chance to earn his first NBA ring as he will help LeBron James and the Cavaliers to defend their NBA title this coming NBA season. Douglas played with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, finishing with 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists within a 20 minutes of on-court action.

On the other hand, J.R. Smith is still a free agent up to this date and has posted a message on Twitter with just a few dots. This actually means that Smith is speechless as per Sporting News, and has nothing to comment on the Cavaliers' decision to sign Toney Douglas.

J.R. Smith was reportedly turned down the Cavaliers recent offer. It was reported that the offer is somewhere between $10 million to $12 million, which is still enough as oppose to the $15 million asking price of J.R. Smith.

LeBron James recently expressed that he is now getting frustrated as J.R. Smith and the Cavaliers are is still having some issues with regard to the negotiation. Still, LeBron James is not losing hope that J.R. Smith will as his wingman as the Cavaliers defend their NBA title this coming NBA season.
